What type of coatings are available? The stock portion of the rifle as well as the pistol grip section are black hard coat anodized & powder coated. The remainder of the rifle is available with a traditional blued finish or parkerized (regular gray/green or black). We are currently evaluating a green/brown Teflon coating over the entire rifle (it looks great but we need to find out if it can be applied uniformly and timely). What type of action is it & how does it work? This is what is commonly called a shell holder type action. You slide the cartridge onto the bolt-face and then simply screw it in to fire or unscrew it to unload. There are lines on the receiver and the barrel sleeve that line up. If these don't line up it tells you that you have a headspace problem and the gun will not fire. Why do you sell just receivers & does anything come with the receiver? We had some of our customers express interest in just purchasing a receiver. The main reason was that they were concerned with a potential ban of .50 cal rifles and they wanted something that they could buy right away and get logged in the books as owning one. Also some of our customers didn't have all the money to buy a .50 cal rifle but wanted to lock in the advertised price and pay later - so we came up with buy a receiver now and we will lock in the price for a year. What you get is the receiver only - no bolt, trigger, etc. (see next question) We are currently evaluating offering the receiver, bolt, trigger, pistol grip (all the firing components in a tradition action) & buttpad with plans / blueprints to complete all at a significant price break. You would have to build the rear stock, supply a barrel (yes M2 threads will work), barrel sleeve, scope rail, bipod, bipod adapter and muzzle brake. Our main concern is someone not head spacing the barrel correctly or making it without a muzzle brake and then putting in a law-suit against us. If this interests you (the rifle kit, not the law-suit) let us know because if enough people want it and there is some legal release for us we would offer it. Is there a cheek rest available? It is in the works and we hope to have it available in the first quarter of 2001. This would be recommended if you plan to use the rifle in extreme cold or hot weather. Is there a tactical case available? Yes, we now offer the case. Show me the case. Do you offer Fifty Cal. Shooter Association members a discount? Yes we do, with proof of membership we offer a rebate of $100. We support the efforts of the association and also the more rifles that we can build at the same time the lower our manufacturing costs - so we can pass on some savings. |
